30 January 2024, Laguna, the Philippines -- The Don Bosco Aspirantate Formation House community staged an academy entitled “Libre Lang Mangarap” (It's Free to Dream) in preparation for the Solemnity of St. John Bosco and as a tribute to him whose famous Dream at Nine years of age celebrates its 200th anniversary this year.

The story revolves around Gab, a Grade 12 student who wishes to become a Salesian but is somehow hindered from doing so because of the pressure he feels since he also wants to fulfill his father’s dream for him to be an engineer.

His father finds the courage to allow his son to enter the formation house upon consulting with Fr. Gio.

The story also features Gab’s friends, who also have their own dreams and are quite resolute in their determination to pursue their career paths.

The story was written by Br. Roel Jude Mallari, SDB, the brother assistant of the Aspirantate community. He also served as its director as well.

With only two weeks to prepare, the Aspirantate community was able to successfully produce a 50-minute stage play that centers on the discernment of one’s dream and vocation and the determination to follow it. Ultimately, in the end, as how it should be, Gab proclaimed, “I hope that this dream of mine is God's very dream for me as well.”
