Xuan Hiep, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 2 January 2023 -- Over three Sundays, the aspirants of Don Bosco Xuan Hiep joined a social communication course guided by Father Augustine Tran Do Phuc, a member of the Provincial Communication Department. He shared basic knowledge about the field of Social Communication, as well as how to participate in the network of Communication in today's society through cyberspace. The course was held over three sessions involving nearly 70 aspirants.
In the first session, on December 4, 2022, Fr Augustine helped the students understand that the purpose of Social Communication for Religious in particular and Christians in general is to communicate about Christ. Therefore, the messages to be spread must be Educative and Evangelical, or convey a meaningful life thought that inspires young people to strive. Besides, he also reminded the aspirants to find the Ideal of their lives, so that they can courageously commit and manifest that Ideal through daily life and through personal websites.
In the second session, on December 11, 2022, the class watched the media products presented by the aspirants in Group 1 with the theme: "Eyes - Life's ideal" and Group 3: "Use the time God gives". Fr Augustine then helped the students write a news item properly, distinguishing between writing news and personal reflections.
In the last session, on January 1, 2023, Fr Augustine continued to share about how to write a news item and make a collection of essays; followed by a presentation of the media products from Group 2 and Group 4. Finally, there was a conclusion and a few words of thanks and New Year greetings.
