RMG, 27 January 2023 -- The SDB 'Missions Sector' launched its 'Salesian Mission Day' as it traditionally does on the Feast of St Francis de Sales (24 January) with the theme: 'Care of Creation - Our Mission'. After the three-sector collaboration in 2022 (Digital Missionary), this year close collaboration between the YM and Missions Sectors is very much visible.
At present we have in our hands a 64-page animation booklet in 5 languages, a short prayer (SMD 2023) and beautiful poster. Soon the printed aids will reach our provinces. And we eagerly wait for the video resources, soon to be made available on the 'Settore per le Missioni Salesiane' YouTube channel. Among the rich animation materials you will find models of ecological conversion, inspiration for action, motivation from science and a large variety of Laudato Si' movement related articles.
The 10th successor of Don Bosco, Fr Angel F Artime is clear in his foreword in the animation booklet: “Care of creation: our mission” means caring for our common home, the beautiful gift of our God, proclaiming the Gospel to young people, especially those most in need, and showing them the beauty of this way: this is also our mission!"
There are many who contributed to this beautiful SMD 2023 Animation tool, including the Convener of the Don Bosco Green Alliance, Fr Antonio Molavin (Beng) of FIN province, whose two-page article shares the 'St Ildenfonso parish' successful 'Ecological Conversion' expressed through a long-term plastic recycling campaign, done together with the support of the local government (Metro Manila, Makati City).
Last piece of the animation is this short prayer:
Father, Creator of all that is,
we thank you for reflecting your glory in creation,
and for entrusting us the responsibility
of being stewards of our created world.
Fill us with the fire of your Holy Spirit,
that we may feel profoundly connected
with all creatures
and respect and care for your creation,
especially the weak and the endangered.
Inspire us, as faithful stewards,
to actively undo the damage we have done,
and to invite all peoples to collaborate in the great mission
of passionately caring for our common home.
