EAO novice 2016 - August

By Our Own Correspondent

EAO, 9 August 2016 -- Next will, God willing, will take place the first profession of 20 novices (6 of them Salesian Brothers) in Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam. Grateful for the growth of new consecrated Salesians, we overlook their location and experience.

At present there are 9 novitiates with 59 novices in our Region, where the young generation of the 11 provinces do experience first official steps of Salesian consecrated life: Chofu (Tokyo-GIA), Naeri (KOR), Lawaan (Cebu-FIS), Sumba - Indonesia and Fatumaca - Timor Leste (ITM), Ba Thon (Ho Chi Min City - VIE), Sampran (THA), Anisakan (MYM) and Suva - Fiji Islands (AUL). As of August 6, 2016 there are no novices in Suva (AUL) and Sumba (ITM-Indonesia). Most numerous by country of origin, there are Vietnamese (20), Timor Leste (9), Philippines (12), Myanmar (5), Thailand (4), Korea (2), Japan (2), CIN (2), PNG (1), Pakistan (1) and Cambodia (1).

Most of the Novice Masters already took or are taking later this year the opportunity of a specific formation course offered in Rome.

We are grateful to all formators to stay 24/24 hours with the novices to witness the beauty of belonging fully to Jesus and to the young and patiently introducing the novice the Salesian Life experience (Constitutions art. 110).

Prayer, manual work, group faith sharing, Constitutions study, lessons of music, English and close spiritual accompaniment and guidance are the important elements during this 12 months.

The presence of Salesian Brother in most of the Novitiate communities helps to recognize and discern the two forms of the one Salesian vocation - Salesian Priest and Salesian Brother.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, send us new vocations!
