EAO, 23 October 2016 -- Dear Confreres, First of all heartfelt greetings from warm Mongolia. We are happy to celebrate the World Mission Sunday 2016 in this land of Genghis Khan together with the 10th Successor of Don Bosco and all 11 Salesian missionaries working in this humble missionary Delegation (VIE)!
At the end of the DB Bicentenary Fr Angel shared his ‘Five fruits of the Bicentenary’ and you would remember the last but not the least ‘Dream about the Congregation that is always missionary’ (ACG 421: 3.5.1 - July 25, 2015). The appeal to the life-long missionary commitment for the missio ad gentes – ad exteros – ad vitam is always actual and urgent. Due to the urgent needs in many parts of the Congregation the Rector Major is also encouraging the Salesians for a time-limited missionary commitment in an organized manner with agreement between two provinces.
In the name and from the initiative of the Rector Major, Fr. Angel I'm sending you a missionary appeal for a temporary missionary commitment to the following five provinces or delegations of EAO region. It would be wonderful if each of the 11 EAO provinces would offer at least one confrere to one of these important present missionary frontiers in our Region!
- Japan province (GIA)
- Cambodia delegation (THA)
- Papua New Guinea-Solomon Islands (PGS)
- China province (CIN) - Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan
- Australia - Pacific province (AUL)
Please, let know all confreres in your province or delegation about this appeal of the Successor of Don Bosco from Mongolia. I’m requesting to pray for this intention and animating for a missionary commitment for a minimum period of 3-5 years. There is no greater joy than to share the Gospel of Jesus with the young people!
