Alafua, Samoa -- On the 29th of June two occasions were celebrated at Alafua community firstly the Feast Day of St Peter and St Paul and also the acceptance of the new Pre-novices. Fr Greg Chambers, the Provincial of Australia and the Pacific was the main celebrant. In his homily he described St Peter and St Paul as great leaders and examples of faith, preaching the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. He also encouraged all the confreres to read more about St Peter and St Paul. Men of great faith but also with human failings, they were able to overcome numerous challenges with God’s Grace to become great men with strong personality leading us forward in following Christ and preaching of his message.

Furthermore, it was a really appropriate day to receive our two young men into the Pre Noviciate. Today God has called them to live more closely and intimately with their vocation and to ‘throw in’ their live before him. They have chosen to continue the journey of seeking and following Christ to the end of their days and to give all they have; their talents, time, effort and most importantly their love for Christ in the style and Spirit of Don Bosco.

The new Pre-Novices are Chris Tuala, Afi’a Enosa, and Lisona Sio. Their formator and Pre-novice Master is Fr Filipo Kapeli.

Pre-novice Messages:

    Prenovice Afi’a Enosa

“Always appreciate who we are now”. It’s a simple message which reveals the happiness I feel for reaching another successful level of my vocation. It is such a great opportunity for me here with my beloved Salesian family at Alafua to begin my journey as a pre-novice candidate. I also take this opportunity to say thank you to Fr Rector Petelo Vito Pa’u, Fr. Filipo Kapeli (Aspirants and Pre novice Formator) and the whole community for an outstanding process and for the assistance I have received over the last six months.

    Prenovice Lisoni Sio

It is a privilege for me to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me while I have been trying my best to move forward onto the next step of my journey. Today the universal church is also celebrating and commemorating the Feast Day of St Peter and St Paul, exceptional leaders and martyrs of the church. I pray that their intercession and guidance will lead and help me on my journey.
