By SC Team, FMA

Seoul, Korea, 11 November 2017 -- During last weekend (November 11) was concluded the canonical visitation of the Korea - Mongolia province of the FMA Sister in Seoul - provincial house. The Visiting General Councillor, Sr. Lucy Rose from India, spent more than three months (August - November) in the province to visit all 33 local communities spread around South Korea and Mongolia.

On November 11 was celebrated the thanksgiving Mass by the SDB provincial Fr. Stefano Yang with the presence of his Vicar, Fr. Marcelo Baek and former provincial Fr. Paul Hwang. Twenty FMAs celebrated their Silver and Golden Jubillee of their religious profession, including also the first FMA Korean missionary ad gentes Sr. Agnes Lee (Ethiopia since 1981).

In the evening was celebrated the provincial thankgsgiving day of the 'Stella Mattutina' province around the provincial Sr. Silvia Choi and the Visiting Councillor, Sr. Lucy Rose. Most of the 280 Korean FMA sisters, novices and candidates were present in this wonderful family event. Provincial house community prepared their umbrella dance, the candidates enrich the moment with the Golden Bell, temporary professed sisters with their choir and the 11 novices with wonderful drama.

Within the fast changing social, cultural and youth landscape of South Korean society, the Salesian Sisters are doing their best to journey along with the girls and youth in need in large variety of works, many of them carried out in close collaboration with the goverment. Most of the visitation time the Visitor was accompanied by the excellent interpreter, Sr. Ursulina Kim, former provincial of Korea.

In a special way shines out the missionary zeal of 18 missionaries ad gentes, working in different provinces of Africa, America and East Asia, including the proper missionary territory of Mongolia. The 140th anniversary of the first FMA missionary expedition remembered at the end of the Visitation is a meaningful pledge to continue with a missionary zeal of the pioneers.
