For the AustraLasia 5000

Panama, 31 January 2018 -- I am greeting you from Panama, the WYD just over, and we are now well into the novena in preparation for the feast of our beloved Father, Don Bosco.

And at or about the same, with the 5,000th number of austraLasia news arriving, I would like to say, briefly:

1. Congratulations! Continuity is already a value, even more so when combined with quality. So really, congratulations. Don Bosco would have done the same thing, meaning he would have sought to be relevant and to make good known.


2. I invite you to continue, focusing on the QUALITY of effective communication and networking among the 1500 SDBs in our region as well as the Salesian Family, so many friends and young people.


3. I would ask you to LET THE GOOD BEING DONE KNOWN, let the voice of the young be known, as well as confreres and others who are a voice for those who have no voice.


4. And never forget our Salesian identity in the way we see and judge, as Don Bosco did, always as the educator, seeing things from God's point of view. This is what Pope Francis told us during the Vigil.
