Dili, Timor Leste, 25 October 2023 -- The Instituto Filosófico São Francisco de Sales (IFFS), organized the seminar with its topic, “LGBTIQ+ nia Ezisténsia iha Sosiedade” (The Existence of LGBTIQ+ in society).

The speakers of this seminar are 1) Mrs. Isabel Antónia da Costa Galhos (Bela Galhos), who delivered “The Vision and Mission of LGBTIQ+ in Timor-Leste”; 2) José Cornélio Guterres, Ph.D., who presents “The existence of human being in the perspective of Sociology” and 3) Fr. Agostinho Soares, Ph.D. who delivers “The Vision of Man in the perspective of the Church”.

The way of realizing this seminar with the mentioned topic was the initiative of the students, for they wish to know deeply the cause and the effect of this group in the world, especially Timor-Leste.

Therefore, this seminar aims to help and open the minds of youths and the students to know the presence of this movement.

LGBTIQ+ existence in Timor-Leste is certainly a big preoccupation to the society of East Timor for many reasons. Even though, the existence of this movement existed in developed countries.

The general conclusion of this seminar brought every participant to see human beings as the image of God. For this, we cannot discriminate against or humiliate other people, even though we are different by group, family, and race.

Those who are presented in this seminar are the Dean of IFFS, Fr. Manuel Pinto, SDB, Dean of ISFIT, Fr. Justino Tanec, and the lecturers and students of IFFS. Moreover, present the guests from other institutions and categorical groups of the Church, IOB, ICS, THS-THM, and SYM. The seminar was held in the portico of Casa Pós-Noviciado (CPN), Comoro, Dili.
