Seoul, Korea, 12 December 2019 -- A Press Conference was held on 9 December in the Salesian Provincial house in Seoul, Youngdongpo-ku on the occasion of the approaching 10th anniversary of Fr. John Lee Tae Seok (1962-2010.January 14). The Salesian province of Korea Fr. John Lee Memorial Foundation presented journalists with the figure of our outstanding Salesian missionary and one year program (January - December 2020) of meaningful events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Fr. John Lee's death.

In the meantime the trailer of the new documentary on Fr. John Lee's life, produced by the KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) and Salesian Province of Korea: (Don't Cry Tonj 2: Shukran, Ba ba) is available. This documentary will be released on 9 January 2020. And you can find and watch another 32 'Fr. John Lee' videos on YouTube - the focus ranges from the medical service, Tonj Oratory life, Music band of Tonj to the Primary school textbooks of South Sudan with his story.

The Salesians of Korean province are happy and proud to start a new Salesian presence in Busan, Fr John's city of birth. Just yesterday, the Rector Major approved a new non-canonical community in charge of the 'Fr John Lee Memorial Hall' in Busan, right in the district where John was born in 1962. The four storey building built by the local government of Busan - Seogu is entrusted to the Salesians of Don Bosco. In a few weeks time the first two Salesians (one Priest and one Brother) will start the activity focused on the mission for youth in need, job placement, and keeping the memory of Fr. Lee in his native Busan alive through meaningful mission-related animation.

We pray that the 10th anniversary year of Fr. John Lee's death will be a time of sharing the life story of this Korean Salesian missionary to inspire many more young people to serve others in need, to leave their comfort zone and also inspire new missionary vocations ad gentes!
