FIS Province, the Philippines, 17 August 2020 -- The year 2021 is the 500 years celebration of the Christianity in the Philippines and the theme for the celebration focuses on “Missio Ad Gentes” wherein SALVO’s past volunteers had significantly contributed and had enriched the missionary activity in FIS Province through the years. As of this writing, there are 90 volunteers, both being sent and received, recorded in the official list from 2007 up to the present. With their valuable contribution to make a difference especially in the lives of many children and youth in the Salesian settings, SALVO organized the first Virtual Reunion among its past volunteers coming from different parts of the world on the occasion of the 205th birthday celebration of our founder, St. John Bosco on August 16, 2020 to reconnect with them, to pray together and to give them a tribute through a simple video presentation. The activity was also graced by the presence of Bro. Carlo Bacalla, SDB, who is one of the pillars of SALVO and now doing his missionary work in Laos and some members of the Salesian cooperators. Bro. Carlo left everyone with an inspiring goodnight talk anchored on SALVO’s motto: CARE, SHARE, and EXPERIENCE.
