Tondo (Manila), the Philippines, 27 November 2023 -- Even as the rain poured down, the Don Bosco Youth Center - Tondo radiated warmth and enthusiasm as it welcomed the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr. Stefano Martoglio, SDB, to its community yesterday, November 25, 2023. The inclement weather did little to dampen the spirits of the enthusiastic Bosconians, who had prepared exceptional performances to express their excitement and warm greetings.
Fr. Martoglio's beaming smile and genuine delight at the performances reflected his appreciation for the warm reception and the shared spirit of camaraderie that defines the Don Bosco community.
Fr. Martoglio had a chance to encounter children and young people who frequented the oratory in Tondo. He also met with the production staff of Senakulo (Passion play).
On this occasion, Fr. Martoglio was joined by fellow Salesian Priests, Rev. Fr. Gerry Martin, SDB Provincial Superior (FIN), and Rev. Fr. Joey Camaya, SDB. Their presence added to the celebratory atmosphere, emphasizing the unity and collaboration within the Salesian community.
Upon the performances, Fr. Martoglio conveyed a short yet heartfelt address to the youth of Don Bosco Youth Center - Tondo. Firstly, he expressed sincere gratitude for their profound silence during the prayer, attributing it to the actual presence of God in their hearts in the name of Don Bosco.
Moreover, Fr. Martoglio acknowledged the significance of Don Bosco Youth Center - Tondo as the youth's home, highlighting the global recognition of Tondo, especially in the hearts of the Salesians. He also emphasized that being in Don Bosco Youth Center - Tondo fulfills Don Bosco's dream for the youth, providing them with a sacred space to get closer to Jesus.
Ultimately, with conviction, Fr. Martoglio assured the youth that he believed and was certain that Don Bosco was present in the Don Bosco Youth Center - Tondo, smiling down from the skies in approval and joy as the youth gathered in this sacred haven.
