Fatumaca, Timor Leste, 13 December 2023 -- 23 young men made their first religious profession on 8 December. This event took place at the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Fatumaca. It was a great joy for the Salesian Congregation, especially the TLS vice-province, to welcome these newly professed members as a sign of God's love for the Congregation. Through this act of profession, God’s work of salvation continuously reaches to all especially the young.
As the presider and homilist, Fr Anacleto Pires (TLS provincial) emphasized the meaning of article 24 of the Salesian Constitutions, which talked about the profession formula. At the same time, he asked the newly professed to live their professional motto, which said, “Here I am. You called me ” (1 Sam 3:6). Participating in the Mass, some Salesian priests and brothers, aspirants, religious sisters, members of the Salesian family, your people, and families of the newly professed. Among them, there were three brothers. Let us pray for these brave men in their initial journey of life as Salesians.
