EAO, 28 March 2022 -- In time for the World Water Day celebration on March 22, 2022, the EAO DBGA Eco Team had its first quarter virtual meeting wherein each provincial animator reported on the status of their environmental efforts. Sharing of best eco-practices and stories from each province or delegation has been an important driving force in bringing everyone in the region towards a sustainable action for our common home, the Earth. Hence, every meeting one or two provinces were assigned ahead to feature their activities through a 3-minute video presentation. For this meeting, Fr. Jolino Vieira, SDB, presented the great works done by the various Salesian communities and Past Pupils in Timor Leste. More video documentations across the region can be accessed at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqLkJqpR6geHepC0ofi1q6A. The Provinces of Indonesia and Vietnam accepted the challenge to feature their eco-stories for the next quarterly meeting which is slated on June 21, 2022.

Ms. Shawna Nemesia Rebello, the Special Projects Executive of the Don Bosco Green Alliance, was invited to share some updates on the Laudato Si Action Platform. According to the data presented during the LSAP Sectoral meeting this March 2022, there were only 9.3 percent registrants from Asia and 4.5 percent registrants in Oceania. The Eco Team was all encouraged to follow up and invite more members in the region to sign-up and be in solidarity with the Church’s seven-year journey towards full ecological sustainability.

The whole team is set to come up with a region-wide DBGA activity for this year that involves active participation from the youth and Salesian Family.
