       Fuiloro, Timor-Leste, 20 January 2023 -- The Salesian schools in the TLS Vice-Province commenced their school year 2023 with the Mass of the Holy Spirit. The Educative Pastoral Community of Fuiloro made up of an Agricultural School, Pre-Secondary School and Primary School with all their staff celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit on 18 January 2023.

       Each section attended the Mass wearing their uniform. Fr. David as the principal of Don Bosco Agricultural School presided at the Mass of the Holy Spirit in the gymnasium of Don Bosco Fuiloro attended by the all the students with all their teaching and non-teaching staff.

       In his homily Fr. David expanded on the Sabbatical Controversy. He said “the law is important but the Salvation of souls should be above everything including the Mosaic Law. Jesus tells his adversaries, in this sense the Pharisees that He is the owner of Sabbath." Aside from the reflection on the readings, Fr. David reflected also upon the importance of the Holy Spirit in our journey as students. He invited all the students to study but not forget to pray as well. As they say “study hard but pray harder.” If we include God in our journey as a student, God will surely bless our studies and bring it to its fulfilment with much fruit.

       Then, the homilist mentioned Our Father and Founder St. John Bosco’s passion for Education in order to teach, accompany and guide all the students to prepare them for a future full of hope and determination. He encouraged all the teachers to accompany and guide all the students and in this journey for a better future.

       After the Eucharistic Celebration, each section went to their respective school and class room for further announcements for the start of the New School year. Then, the teachers of each school realized a short meeting to discuss everything in order to begin this new school year with much satisfaction.

       Then the Don Bosco Technical School, Fatumaca also started their New School year. Teachers accompanied the first-year students as they began their first day of hands-on practice with the introduction and instructions on use of tools and equipment in their respective workshops.

       The same thing happened also in other Don Bosco’s school across the Vice-Province.
