Suva, Fiji, September 6, 2015 - For such an auspicious day the cool, wet weather tried to put a dampen on the day's celebrations, however judging by the faces of the youth, parents and Salesians by day’s end nothing could prevent all having a wonderful time.

The celebrations began with a 9am Mass led by Fr Jim and concelebrated by Fr Taisali. The community chapel was full with children and families gathered in the sacristy and outside the chapel to attend mass. Following mass, Fr Jim gave a short presentation to a full house covering the life and times of Don Bosco.

A short refreshment was all that was required before the youth were being divided into their groups and starting the morning’s games. The children had singing competitions, musical chairs, penguin races, created birthday cakes, buses and plains with their groups and many other games and activities. This was all achieved and thoroughly enjoyed despite the constant presence of rain.

Fr Taisali and some parents and brothers prepared the barbeque lunch. After so much fun and games the whole group sat down and enjoyed a long lunch. However the break was temporary, for post-lunch the different Sunday School classes and the Novices presented their items. Most groups sang, danced or a combination of the two – we were even graced to hear two new Don Bosco hymns composed by the youth and novices.

After a final thanks and blessing for all the Sunday School children and their parents and the Salesian community, the group took a final photo in the chapel with the beautiful images of Don Bosco and Mary Help of Christians as the centre point. The children and parents in the days to come mentioned how sad they were to leave at the end of the day, even though they were tired, because of the wonderful time all spent at Don Bosco, Suva, for the very first BulaBosco to celebrate the Bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco.
