Melbourne, Vic., Australia, 29 August 2022 -- The Regional Councilor for the East Asia-Oceania Region, Fr Joseph Phuoc arrived in Australia on Monday 22nd August to begin the Extraordinary Visitation on behalf of the Rector Major. On arrival in Melbourne, Fr Phuoc was welcomed by the Provincial and the Provincial Economer.
After a day of rest, Fr Phuoc participated in the two-days Provincial Council meeting at the Province Centre on 24-25th August with the members of the Council including Fr Peter Hoang the Vice Provincial, Fr Peter Carroll the Economer, Fr Petelo Vito the Delegate of the Pacific, Fr Anthony Dung Nguyen the Formation Delegate and Fr Brian Ahern the Youth Ministry Delegate. Unfortunately, the Provincial Secretary was unable to attend as he was preaching a retreat to the formation community in Fiji.
In the evening on 25th, Fr Joseph led the Eucharist to begin the Extraordinary Visitation. The Eucharist was attended by many confreres from Melbourne together with the members of the Provincial Council. A fraternal meal was shared following the Eucharist.
This is the first time for Fr Joseph Phuoc in Australia to experience the vastness of the Province covering Australia, Samoa, Fiji and New Zealand. He will be in the Province until the middle of October.
