Hong Kong, China, 11 August 2021 -- On 1 August 2021, the Hong Kong, China Federation of Don Bosco Past Pupils held the 2019-2020 Annual Generation Meeting (AGM) at the St Louis School. 7 Chairmen/representative of the 9 member associations, Fr Matthew Chan, the Salesian Delegate, and other executive members joined the Meeting.
Other than the usual meeting formalities, this AGM put emphasis on its discussion and sharing session, themed on ‘Young Past Pupils (GEX)’. The session was led by two GEX members, Mr Andrew Yuen and Mr Samson Chio, who had participated in the 12th Asia Oceania Congress held online on 25-26 June 2021.
The discussion and sharing session consisted of 3 parts: Part 1 – Point out the significance of the GEX issue; Part 2 – Lead participants to look into their association’s situation and problems, and examine their future plans for the GEX activities, for enhancing coherence of the GEX between association and alma mater; Part 3 – Share the discussion results of the AO Congress. Participants provided feedback that coincided with feedback from their counterparts in the AO areas.
The Federation opined that it would empower the GEX by establishing the post(s) of Vice President (GEX)/GEX Councillors in the executive committee, actively involving GEX in organising activities for young past pupil generations, connecting the old and new generations and developing different updated social media for better communication. Fr Matthew Chan reinstated the Salesian Mission’s attention, care and support on the GEX matters.
The aim of the session was not merely on this AGM. The Federation encouraged implementation of the issue both on the Federation and association levels. It was hoped the discussion and sharing session would trigger deeper, ongoing discussions and fruitful actions in the member associations.
The AGM was held successful with enthusiastic support of all participants and the Delegate, Fr Matthew Chan.
