Silver Jubilee Year of AustraLasia (1997-2022)
EAO, 3 February 2021 -- Three years ago the Rector Major sent a message from the WYD in Panama (January 2019) to congratulate the 5000th issue of AustraLasia news, launched in November 1997 and since January 2015 'based' on the EAO regional website BOSCOLINK (www.bosco.link): "Congratulations! Continuity is already a value, even more so when combined with quality. So really, congratulations. Don Bosco would have done the same thing, meaning he would have sought to be relevant and to make good known. I invite you to continue focusing on the QUALITY of effective communication and networking among the 1500 SDBs in this region as well as the Salesian Family, so many friends and young people. I would ask you to LET THE GOOD BEING DONE KNOWN, let the voice of the young be known, as well as confreres and others who are a voice for those who have no voice. Never forget our Salesian identity in the way we see and judge, as Don Bosco did, always as the educator, seeing things from God's point of view. This is telling us Pope Francis!"
Thanks to the support of the 4 SDB-strong AustraLasia 'core team' involving 4 EAO Salesian from different provinces, and thanks to the growing number of 'correspondents' especially from the younger SDB generations, during last 2021 some 560 articles of AustraLasia news were published. According to the provinces and delegations (available on the BOSCOLINK website, since January 2015) the score is as follows:

We are grateful to all 'correspondents' who contribute from the 23 countries of our Region to keep this 'family link' going forward. The upcoming 25th anniversary (November 2022) is a good occasion to invite and involve especially the younger generations from those EAO countries that are 'less visible in the digital world'.
On February 1 most of the East Asian countries celebrate the New Lunar Year (Year of the Tiger). We wish and pray that this Spring Festival will bring more peace, harmony and prosperity to all EAO countries, especially in Myanmar, that remembers the first anniversary of the military junta coup (February 1, 2021).
