St John Bosco Parish, Jakarta, Indonesia, 4 February 2022 -- It should be the rainy season in Jakarta. But at that time the sky was clear and everyone seemed to be happily celebrating the feast of their beloved father Don Bosco and at the same time the 19th birthday of St John Bosoco Parish in Jakarta. Various series of events were held while keeping strict observance of the Covid 19 health protocol.

The Archdiocese of Jakarta has opened the year 2022 as the Year of promoting human dignity. In St John Bosco Parish the Eucharistic celebration of the feast was attended by the faithful with the allowed number of people, which is 40% of the church's capacity, the lectors and musicians are children with disabilities. The Eucharist was preceded by a short drama about Don Bosco's visit to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Basilica in Rome where, at the altar of Our Lady Help of Christians, Don Bosco wept remembering his dream and how his Mother Mary was always present and accompanied him until then. The enthusiasm of the people in celebrating the feast of our beloved Father is really visible; it is because the church has been recommended not to hold religious activities or gatherings. The faithful were longing to meet and greet each other.

The day before the feast, the committee held an activity to pour 250 lt of Eco Enzym into the nearby lake to improve the water quality of the lake. The activity is expected to be held regularly. By using a boat, the parish priest, parish council and some representatives from the government poured Eco Enzyme into the lake, while other people from the shores of the lake.

It is an extraordinary experience that following the call of Pope Francis for the church to accept and accommodate all people regardless of race, status and even physical condition, and that they are also God’s children and have fully rights to be involved also in worship.
