Valdocco, Turin, 27 September 2022 -- After 24 years, this time at Valdocco in Turin, the International Salesian Social Works Congress opens on 28 September involving some 300 Salesians, lay mission partners and experts in this important Salesian charismatic field.
Among the participants is also the Rector Major, delegates from almost all 91 SDB provinces and also 21 young people, past pupils of Salesian social works. The 4 full days program (September 29-October 2,2022) is available on the Congress website: https://sites.google.com/sdb.org/operesociali/home?authuser=0; Although EAO region participants are not there in large numbers, we expect new inspiration and strengthening of this very important sector of our youth ministry in all provinces. The daily Congress methodology already shows the way forward, in the following steps:
* Horizon: Congress listens to world-wide well-known speakers, to widen our vision and deepen our daily work motivations
* Outlook: Congress listens to social work experts to be challenged with a new way of looking at youth social work
This step is facilitated daily through a series of 12 different workshops animated by international experts.
* Ground: Congress participants share their best practices at grass-root level from all around the world
* Dreams: Congress is immersed within Turin the City of many 'Socially committed Saints' and with the 'Casa-Museum Don Bosco at Valdocco with the 'ad hoc exbihition' about 'Invisible Youth' (https://museocasadonbosco.org).
