Port Moresby, PNG, 12 November 2016 -- 113 students graduated after completing their Employment Orientation and Skill Development Training (EOSDT) at Don Bosco Technical School, (DBTS) Gabutu. Present for the occasion were the staff, students, parents, guardians and friends of the successful candidates.

Short term courses in Basic Computing (IT), House Wiring Installation, Metal Fabrication and Welding and Motor Vehicle Technology (MVM) were held at the Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu campus for 16 weeks.

Speaking on the occasion Fr. Angel Sanchez sdb, Principal stressed honesty and character as the hallmark of a Bosconian. “The real identity of a Bosconian, is not attached to the school uniform or the school logo. Your real identity is when you are honest, respectful, decent and hardworking,” he said.

Fr. Roger Miranda sdb, Rector encouraged the students to get employed and apply with diligence what they have learnt at Don Bosco. “Just the name of Don Bosco is a guarantee for work” he told the students.

A few comments from the students:

“Even though this has been a short term course, I have gained a lot academically, technically and spiritually. This will help me in my future career”, said Max Sariman, EOSDT MVM student.

“I look forward to being a servant leader in my community and teach our people about ethics in life”, said Michael G Hoope, EOSDT IT student.

“DBTS has changed my behaviour as I I mixed with students who are well groomed and have good attitudes. I am also technically and academically well trained. I look forward to a brighter future”, said Evelyn Oini, EOSDT IT student.

The students proudly walked up to receive their awards and certificates after which they sang the Alma Mater Song. On behalf of the students Dramak Charlton thanked the Salesians, staff and students for the opportunity to spend time in study, training, gain skills and knowledge.

On Thursday, 24th November, Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu will hold the graduation for the Year 12 and the ITC2 students.
