Kumgi, Papua New Guinea, 10 February 2017 -- The glittering New Episode of Don Bosco Simbu Technical College’s Academic year began with a thanks giving Holy Mass on Friday 10th February, 2017. The significance of this day was the inspiring presence of Bishop Anton Bal, Diocese of Kundiawa. Addressing the college Bp. Anton spoke to them on the importance of getting educated and urged them to dispose themselves to the privilege and special blessings of Don Bosco. Thus they will shape a new and meaningful future for themselves.


As he opened the New Academic Year celebrations Bp. Anton Bal acknowledged the uniqueness of the educational system of Don Bosco and said, "You are privileged to be at this Don Bosco institution. Cooperate fully and completely follow all that is asked of you. It will give you a firm foundation for your future".


Present on the occasion was TVET Inspector from the Simbu Province, Mr. Paul Moiwo. In his enlightening keynote address he welcomed the students to the academic year 2017. He recalled the Preventive System on Don Bosco and dwelt on it. "Efficacy in education can be brought about only when it is embedded on the three pillars of the Preventive System - Reason, Religion and Relationship", he said.


Rev. Fr. Robinson Parappilly sdb, Principal of Don Bosco Simbu Technical College welcomed the gathering. Emphasising the Strenna of Rector Major "We are a Family. Every home a school of life and love", he exhorted the students to make Don Bosco Tech a true family. He informed the gathering of the commencement of the National Diploma three-year program in Technical Education, following the National Qualification Framework. He also congratulated the selected students who were awarded HECAS scholarship.


Vice principal Sr. Marivel Monteveros proudly introduced the qualified professional and technically qualified teaching and technical staff. Fr. Edwin Genovia sdb then expressed his thanks on behalf of the entire school community.
