Interview with the first MYM Delegate to the Salesian Cooperators, Fr Bosco Zeya Aung, SDB
Anisakan - Nazareth House, Myanmar, 26 April 2019 -- Salesian Family delegate (with the task to initiate the first group of Salesian Cooperators) until May 2018, currently Rector of Nazareth House (Anisakan), Formation Delegate and Vice-provincial (MYM).
What makes you happy as the Salesian Cooperators’ Delegate (with the first group of candidates in Anisakan)?
It is a joy to accompany them to find their vocation as Salesian Cooperators. It is God who is giving them this vocation and in helping them discern their vocation, I am cooperating with the plan of God. This makes me happy too.
What helps your Salesian Cooperator candidates grow in their vocation or help in discernment?
Their regular contact with the Salesians and participation in the Salesian works and Salesian celebration.
What are the major challenges in the vocation growth of the Salesian Cooperators?
Delegate for the Salesian Cooperators needs to be well trained as he will be the one to help the candidates discovered their vocation to be Salesian Cooperators. Lack of experience and preparation on the part of the delegate is a major challenge. The second challenge will be the language barrier, in the past. But now we have just translated the 'project of apostolic lie' into Burmese.
How do you prepare yourself as delegate?
Taking part in the Salesian Cooperators' meeting and listening to the witness of the Salesian Cooperators during those events were the only moments of formation for me so far.
What exchange among the EAO Salesian Cooperator provinces do you dream about?
We still do not have the Salesian Cooperators yet. But it will be very useful for us to learn from other provinces how they have started, what kind of difficulties were met at the beginning and how they gave formation to the first members.
What do you expect from the 2019 EAO Formators Workshop in Cambodia?
It will be very helpful for us to receive the documents regarding the beginnings of the Salesian Cooperators in different provinces.
