Mandalay, Myanmar , 14 August 2021 -- On 13 August 2021, Fr. Thu Rein Oo Raphael, SDB was installed by our provincial Fr. Bosco Nyi Nyi, SDB, as the new rector of Don Bosco-Mandalay in the beautiful chapel of St. John Paul II, for a three-year term of office. We began a simple and profound ceremony of installation integrated with the Holy Eucharistic celebration at 7:00 a.m., participated by all the confreres from Don Bosco-Mandalay community. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, only 7 confreres, 1 diocesan priest and 5 lay people could attend the ceremony Mass.
Fr. Thu Rein Oo Raphael was born on January 27, 1985, in Leitho, Taungngu Diocese. He made his first profession on May 24 2003 in Anisakan. After philosophical formation and practical training, he was sent to Philippines for his theological formation. He could make his Perpetual Profession on May 1 2012 in the same country. Finally, on March 19 2014, he was ordained as a Salesian priest in his native diocese. We are really proud of him and grateful to God for the gift of having a young rector in the vice province of Myanmar.
Let us continue to pray for Fr. Thu Rein Oo so that he may constantly render himself for the service of authority in the local community, serving the confreres and the young people with the heart of the Good Shepherd and the spirit of Don Bosco.
