Caritas Sisters of Jesus, Seoul - Suwon - Gwangju, 10 October 2022 -- Seoul, Suwon, Gwangju are the 3 Caritas Sisters of Jesus provinces in South Korea. Following tradition, on 7 October (Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary) the three provincial superiors were installed for their 3-year term in their respective provincial centers.

  • Seoul province: Sr Balbina Lee, Sook-hee (former missionary in Papua New Guinea)
  • Suwon province: Sr Silveria Kim, Sabina (former director of Bible@Life Publications)
  • Gwangju province: Sr Jacoba Lee, Soon-jin (second term)

Each of the 3 Korean provinces also celebrated their provincial community day, with sharing of fellowship, personal and community commitment following the General Chapter 18 (2021) with the theme 'Caring for our common home'.

There are more than 400 Caritas Sisters of Jesus grouped in 3 provinces, each one entrusted with some overseas mission - Papua New Guinea, Australia, USA and North-East Asia. Most of the sisters are involved in the parish ministry in the local church, with a multi-faceted mission for the less privileged youth and seniors, ranging from the large hospital of Saint Carolo in Suncheon, through to the Bible & Life Publications in Seoul and various social welfare institutions in all 3 provinces.

One day after the memory of Venerable Fr Vincent Cimatti, SDB (6 October) and on the Eve of Saint Artemides Zatti's canonization (9 October) the Sisters were challenged to follow more closely their deeply rooted vocation to holiness and pray to the new Salesian Family Saint for new vocations in these vocationally challenging times.
