4979(II)_Korean province mourns the death of Fr Valentino Shin

Seoul, Korea, 13 January 2019 -- With profound sorrow the Korean provincial community announces that Fr Valentino Shin has passed to the house of the Father after a pro-longed battle with cancer at the age of 56 years, after 24 years of Salesian religious life and 17 years of Salesian priestly life. His death occurred on 13 January 2019.


During his Salesian life Fr Shin studied at the UPS-Rome together with the late Fr John Lee Taek Seok (1962-2010. January 14) and Fr Marcello Baek (current Vice provincial of Korea). His Salesian life was dedicated mainly to the direct educational presence among the young people in various Youth Centres in Korea.


We give thanks for his life witness and contribution to the Salesian mission!


We pray for his eternal rest!

    1995. January 24 First profession SDB (Daejon)

    2000. April 27 Perpetual profession SDB (Valdocco-Torino)

    2001. June 24 Priestly ordination (Seoul, Korea)

    2003. August 31 Licentiate in Catechetics (UPS, Rome – Italy)

    2003. September 1 Salesian Youth Center in charge (Shin Weol Dong, Seoul)

    2007. February 1 Gangwondo Youth Center Team leader (Chuncheon)

    2011. February 1 Daejon SDB community rector

    2014. January 24 Provincial Councillor and Youth Ministry delegate

    2015. January 8 Seoul-Rinaldi community rector

    2019. January 13 Passed away

The Requiem will be celebrated at the provicncial house chapel in Seoul on January 15, 2019.

    오늘 신현문신부님 장례미사를 다녀 왔어요


    저는 한번도 만나 적이 없는 분이었지만 젊으신 분인데

    아쉬움이 컸습니다

    하느님의 계획을 알수 없지만 신 신부님의 깨끗한 영혼이

    이제는 하늘 나라에서 하느님과 돈보스코와 죽은 회원들과 함께

    베사메무초 춤을 추시리 생각합니다 

    (장례미사중에. . )


    신부님, 이제는 저도 죽음준비 해야 겠어요

    보다 더 하느님을 사랑하고 일상의 삶에서

    이웃을 있는 그대로 받아들이는 삶을 노력 해야 겠습니다


    저의 임종을 듣게 되시면 꼭 장례미사에 오세요

    저는 정말 기도가 필요한 영혼입니다


    하느님을 만나기에는 제가 너무 이기적이고 오염이 되어

    두렵기도 하지만 하느님 자비를 기도 할 뿐. . .

    계속 노력해야 겠지요


    기도중에 기억합니다

    56세의 젊은 나이에 하느님께로 먼저 간 신신부를 생각하면
    우린 60을 넘게 사니 그리고 아직 건강하니 감사해야할 일이지만
    동시에 언제 하느님이 부르실지 모르니 잘 준비된 생활을 살아야 할 것을 
    다시한번 생각하게 됩니다.

    아직 젊은 회원의 죽음은 
    나이든 회원이나 젊은 회원들에게 삶을 잘 살아야 한다는 것을
    생각하게 해주네요!

    신신부을 아는 수많은 사람들과 
    신신부의 관심을 많이 받았던 사람들
    그리고 살레시안 가족들의 애도와 기도 속에
    그리고 하느님께서 주신 좋은 날씨 속에 모든 장례일자가 잘 
    치러진 것 같습니다.

    Dear Fr. Provincial and confreres,

    I offer my profound condolences for the passing away of Fr. Valentin. I will always 

    remember his happy and optimistic disposition. I will keep him in my prayer. I 

    thank God for having known him. I'm sure he is praying for us in the Father's 

    house.

    벌써, 떠나신지 한달이 다 되어가고 있어요. 저는 이 소식을 로마에서 듣고, 너무 놀라서 믿질 못했지요.  그러나 한국에 와서보니 사실이었습니다.  하느님께서는  신 신부님을 급하게 쓰실 곳이 있으셨다고 위로를 해보아도 마음이 너무 아파요. 일상에서 저의 일과 멀리 계셔서 찾아뵙지 못했던 분이지만, 늘 뵙고 싶은 분으로 제 마음 한쪽에 계셨던 분이였습니다.  무심하게도 한번 뵈올 기회도 주지 않으시고 떠나신 신부님을 그리워하며, 먼저 가신 살레시안의 모든 분들과 행복하시길 빌면서, 저의 죽음도 잘 준비할 수 있도록 천국에서 기도해주시길 청합니다. 그리워하는 마리아가...
