Fatumaca, Timor-Leste 23 July 2022 -- Fr Andrew Wong,SDB, the current provincial of Indonesia (INA) Vice-Province and the former Regional of the EAO Region acting as the representative of the Rector Major, has installed Fr Anacleto Pires,SDB as the New Provincial Superior of TLS Vie-Province for the 2022-2028 period. The installation was held in the Eucharistic Celebration that was presided over by the outgoing provincial; Fr Apolinario Neto, SDB at the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians Fatumaca.
In the homily, Fr Andrew thanked Fr Apolinario Neto for the Mission, Animation and Governance he has rendered in the past six years. Furthermore, he mentioned that today we are witnessing the leadership being handed over to the new Provincial for the next six years in a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The new Provincial; Fr Anacleto, has been known in the Vice-Province as Don Rua because of his piety and his ascetic life. He is indeed the living rule as Don Rua performed in his life; Fr. Andrew added.
After the homily the Newly Installed Provincial Prayed the “Creed” in showing his acceptance to the Triune God and believing in Magisterium of the Catholic Church. In the beginning of the Mass; the Provincial Secretary; Fr. Lourenço das Neves,SDB presented the Letter of the Rector Major Don Angel Fernandez Artime,SDB in showing his affection in this milestone opportunity where the Vice-Province going to have a New Provincial for the next six year.
Before the final blessing, the chance was given to the outgoing provincial to present his final remarks. In his remarks he thanked everyone who has been part of his journey in fulfilling the given tasks in animating and governing the vice-province in the past six years. In a special manner he expressed his deep gratitude to his council members.
The incoming provincial in his remarks thanked the Rector Major and his council for his appointment to this challenging tasks. He then requested Fr. Andrew Wong,SDB to extend his special thanks and affection to the Rector Major. He asked all the Salesian Family to strengthen the family tie in order to fulfil all the mission entrusted to the congregation and the Vice-Province.
Fr. Hermegildo Pereira,SDB, representing the Salesian Family in delivering the thanks giving speech. He summarized his speech into three key words mainly: IMPRESSION, GRATITUDE and PARDON. His speech was full of appraisal to the outgoing and the incoming provincial with anecdotes, stories that was really animating. The audience were clapping their hands in showing their joy and gratitude to the incoming and the outgoing provincial as Fr. Hermenegildo mentioned their animating stories. He then ended his speech with a prose from Paulo Coelho.
The celebration was concluded with grand lunch which was provided by the community of Fatumaca to all the participants.
