Dumaguete City, the Philippines, 8 November 2016 -- A well represented group of Salesians of the FIS province gathered together in the “City of Gentle People”— the moniker of the picturesque Dumaguete City, specifically in St Louis School – Don Bosco (SLS-DB) to celebrate the annual Provincial Assembly Day(s) or PADs as it is fondly called. The gathering had a triple significance as it not only celebrated the birthday of the provincial superior, but launched as well two grand anniversaries, that of the golden anniversary of the foundation of SLS-DB and the silver jubilee of the FIS province.

The day began with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass together with the whole student body. Before concluding, Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB, Provincial Superior of FIS, declared the opening of the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the canonical establishment FIS province. Afterwards, SLS-DB students welcomed the Salesians with a cultural program. Prior to having lunch, Fr Eligio Santos, SDB gave a conference on Family Life in the Community through reflections of the Pope’s Amoris Laetitia. The day closed with Fr. Provincial’s gratitude speech, also expressing his vision and encouragement for each Salesian of moving forward productively and meaningfully.
