ASC Province of Cebu celebrates the Provincial Congress 2019

Cebu, Philippines 26 November 2019 -- Last weekend (23-24November ) the Salesian Cooperators from the Southern Philippines (five islands: Cebu, Negros, Panay, Mindanao and Eastern Samar) gathered for the 2019 Provincial Congress. Under the leadership of the outgoing Provincial Coordinator, Ms. Mila Wurtrich, 45 delegates convened in Lawaan, Talisay City (Cebu island) at the Sacred Heart Missionary Seminary (DB Formation Center) for their elective event.

The message from the Cooperator's Superior, the Rector Major, Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, delivered during last 5th World Congress in Rome (October 2018) was also part of the gathering.

At the heart of the Congress was the clear focus on a more effective animation and governance of the whole Province, challenged by the difficult geography of five distant islands with respective difficulty of gathering together. In her report and pointing on the way forward, Ms. Mila animated the whole Congress along the line of growing communion, with more flexible and effective structure of the provincial council with new roles.

The new provincial council for next 3 years is made up of:

Ms Aarleni Sasan - Provincial Coordinator (center of Minglanilla, FMA)

Ms Boots Figuracion - Formation Councilor (center of DBTC-Cebu, SDB)

Ms Leonila Taba - Secretary (center of Lourdes-Cebu, SDB)

Ms Amelita Velosa - Treasurer (center of Liloan-Cebu, SDB)

and

Vice Coordinators for Cebu Cluster: Ms Rico Catana (center of Pasil, SDB)

Vice Coordinator for Negros Cluster: Ms. Elmer Juanitas (center Councilor in charge of Borongan center: Ms Pacita

Councilor in charge of Minadanao

According to the Congress deliberation services for the mission and formed more effective social communication group, youth apostolate, evangelization will soon be launched. Vocation and mission animation councilors will be chosen by the new provincial council (2020-2023).
