Thailand - Opening Ceremony of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco's birth
HUA HIN: August 16, 2014  – On Saturday 16th August 2014, about 650 members from the Salesian family in Thailand joined together to celebrate the opening of the feast of bicentenary of the Birth of Don Bosco. We started the celebration with the Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Paul Prasert Somngam, the Provincial.

In his homily, he motivated us how to do and to act as Don Bosco did. Following the Mass were the sessions on the life of Don Bosco and his charism: the first group for the members of the Salesian family led by Fr. Joseph Banchong. And the second group for all young people which organized by Fr. Anthony Piya. Everyone has learnt more about the life and spirituality of Don Bosco that encouraged and reawakened in them to know, to understand, to love and to imitate Don Bosco.

During the lunch time there were performances presented by the students showing their love for Don Bosco. And also on this occasion we celebrated the Provincial Day, we expressed our gratitude to our provincial and the congregation as such.

In the afternoon, we still continued organizing some activities such as games and sports for young people in the Salesian atmosphere. They enjoyed very much and shared the joy of Don Bosco with each other. Apart from this, each community in the Salesian Family has its own plan to do some programmes to make Don Bosco known through the year. By next year we shall meet again at the closing ceremony.
