Cagliero missionaries receive their mandate on 24th January

MELBOURNE: 24 January 2010 -- Sunday, 24 January was a special day for the Australia-Pacific Province.  After a year of preparation: applications, interviews, and a final full week of intensive formation – Salesian, cultural, spiritual and psychological – seven Cagliero missionaries were commissioned by the Provincial, Fr Frank Moloney, for their missionary appointments for 2010.  This is the third Cagliero missionary group to be sent into the EAO Region from the Australia-Pacific Province.  All young missionaries are either recent University graduates, or have been in the work force form some time.  Jessica, Paul and Michael will be heading to Samoa.  Jessica to the FMA community at Leauva’a, Michael and Paul to Don Bosco Tech at Alafua.  Michael, Hanna and Simon will be with two Salesian communities in Cambodia and Matthew in  Chiang Mai, Thailand.  The team for Thailand-Cambodia will depart on Thursdasy, 28 Jaunary, while the Samoan contingent will head off on the feast of Don Bosco, 31 January.
As the numbers of consecrated Salesians in Australia decrease (while those in the Pacific increase) a young apostolic presence of young Australian “Salesians” are reaching out to continue and strengthen Don Bosco’s presence in this part of the world.
