ITM Brothers Meet in Kupang (West Timor)

KUPANG: 1st December '04 -- The Salesian Brothers of Indonesia Timor Leste vice-province held their three day encounter together with the new provincial, Fr. Andres Calleja, SDB. This year, 8 brothers were able to participate in the meeting. This number is about a third of the total number of brothers. Among those who were not able to attend were seven brothers who are studying outside Indonesia/Timor. Another 7 postnovitiate brothers are still processing their visa for Kalyani-India, while one senior Brother asked to stay behind in Timor due to health reasons. The meeting was held in the city of Kupang, the capital of West Timor, Indonesia. This region is predominantly Christian in population.
The Salesians do not have a presence in Kupang City yet, but it was chosen as the venue of the meeting because it is relatively near to Jakarta, Tigaraksa, Sumba and the other communities of Timor. The meeting was held in the residence-complex of the BHK Religious Brothers from the 26th until the 28th of November. For the seven postnovitiate brothers who have missed this meeting, an echo session is being held in Tigaraksa from November 30 until December 3, 2004.
The Brothers' Meeting discussed and reflected on three matters. The first topic was on Blessed Artemide Zatti and human formation. This was followed by a sharing on lay religious spirituality. Members of four other local religious congregations of Brothers (staying in Kupang) were invited for this session. After the guest Brothers had gone, the Salesians continued with the topic on the Personal Plan of Spiritual Life
