Kolkata Past Pupils Congress ready for action

KOLKATA: 23rd January 2005 -- Indian National Federation President  Don Bosco Past Pupils, Rajesh Gupta, is confident that all is in place for the forthcoming Australasia Congress to be held in Kolkata from 3-7 February 2005.
With 442 registration so far, this looks like being the largest of the Past Pupils conventions for the region is not the largest ever.  Understandably a large number of these registrations are from branches through the Subcontinent, but 30 or more come from various parts of Asia including 2 from Japan.  While Japan has many thousands of Past Pupils of Don Bosco in practice, and many local and active groups, they have not until recently been formed into a close-knit organisation at federal level.  The coming Congress is an opportunity for them to develop their first steps in this area and perhaps to make a bid to hold the next Australasia Congress.
The theme and topic of the keynote address for the Congress will be Salesian Education - a celebration of holiness.  In keeping with that note of celebration the event is to conclude with various celebrations including guest performances and performances by present students of Salesian schools.
