Oceania students graduate

MELBOURNE: 28th March '04 -- Four Salesian students graduated in theology at Melbourne University's Wilson Hall on Friday night, 26th March.  They are Brother Brian Ahern, who graduated with a Master of Theology, and Brothers Sefo Mulipola, Mika Luamanuvae and William Matthews, who each graduated with a Bachelor of Theology.

They are the first group of Salesian graduands since the Salesian theology students moved to a new inner city community at Clifton Hill.  Brothers Sefo and Mika are from Samoa originally, but have been pursuing their studies, along with Brother Solomona Pounia Paulo, in Melbourne.  Bro. Mona (for short!) is Vice-President of the SRC at Catholic Theological College, where the students attend.  Their studies come under the aegis of the Melbourne College of Divinity.

Present also, for the occasion, were three Salesian 'doctors', all of whom are presently lecturers, part-time or visiting, with the MCD: Fr. Ian Murdoch, provincial, Fr. Tim Costelloe, Rector of the Clifton Hill community, and Fr. Norman Ford, well-known ethicist and director of the Caroline Chisholm Centre for Health Ethics, Melbourne.
