EAO Youth Ministry delegates identify challenges

HUA HIN: 16th February 2009 -- A 'strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats' aka SWOT analysis amongst YM Delegates at Hua Hin has identified a range of challenges demanding responses. That process - along with possible responses to be developed over the six year (by now five) period took a good day and a half.
The challenges involve structures, formation and evangelisation, amongst others. Most responses dealt with province level decisions, but at the level of the region, delegates agreed that the Regional Coordinator will facilitate networking with regard to YM experiences and conversely that local delegates will facilitate the sharing of these experiences. As not all confreres in the region have been comfortable with a Youth Ministry delegate-commission structure in the province, the meeting encouraged development of strategies at local level to overcome this resistance. Responses to formation and evangelisation challenges included effective formation of lay mission partners. The meeting agreed to verify the challenge-response model they had set up in November 2010 in Hong Kong.
Fr Andrew Fung (CIN) will co-ordinate issues leading up the Hong Kong meeting.

(1) Those who were checking for #2351-59 in Bosconet over the last few days would have noted the lack of updating. The wiki 'exec' permissions had been thrown out of kilter due to extreme heat conditions in Melbourne where the server is located. Hardware failure, basically. The Host service has now indicated that this situation has been remedied, so you can now check on updates.
(2) Fr Anthony Ngoc Dung, whose serious injuries were reported in #2356, was duly 'medivaced' to Port Moresby's Pacific International Hospital for further treatment where it has been reported that the prognosis is now better, though he is by no means out of the woods as yet. We have not received further information on results of tests and scans.
