Now fully in English, DB 1 (spirituality in a flash)
MELBOURNE: 10 January 2013 --  Recall that line yesterday about digital natives out there in EAO who might be able to reproduce these videos fully in English, instead of just adding subtitles? Well, in the end it was a digital immigrant who worked out how to do it. But the idea should still be open to the 'natives'!

The first of these three items is now in English and more or less a faithful copy of the original. A few technical issues with size initially, but it should still be around the same size of the original. The link however is different. This first part of the three part series in English is currently on Youtube rather than SDL until some codec issues are ironed out. Anyway, it is more widely available on Youtube, and whatever we resolve elsewhere, it will remain there and the others will likewise be added there. In the meantime parts 2 and 3 of the subtitled versions are still on SDL. Part 1 is showing a 'corrupt file' issue - due to uploading the newer English version. Need to sort that out still.

It is about a day's work to get one of these 'done' properly, so a couple more days are needed to get the other two up.  Expect that probably by Sunday we can have the remaining two done.

Don Bosco's Way
Now, there happens to be another fine resource available - in English - which bills itself  along the following lines:
This website is dedicated to Don Bosco’s method of education interpreted for teachers, parents and youth leaders of all faiths. It is written chiefly for a South Asian audience and contains English resources for further information and study

The prime mover behind this effort is Fr Peter Gonsalves, now lecturing at the UPS. It probably finds its earliest history at a meeting in madrid of the Social Communications World Advisory Team, where the English-speaking cohort decided to do something about getting Salesian and especially Salesian educational and evangelising materials together and onto the Web. this particular effort, though, is especially geared to formation of staff in the Indian school context, but that does not mean that most of the resources available are not also just as applicable elsewhere.

You can find the following, amongst other things:
  • Pope Francis is the model for the DBWAY BEST PRACTICE 2014.
  • More sing-along videos to Don Bosco and another to give more 'Power to the Children' (taken from productions by Tej-prasarini, Mumbai ).
  • The Text Resources have more than 40 new additions, all highlighted in yellow.
  • The 17 new Audiovisual Resources (also marked in yellow) will offer you links to interesting videos that are related to educational themes in the DBWAY.
  • The Bookshop has information about our latest addition to English books on the DBWAY: Prevention not Repression by Pietro Braido.
