Two new leaders in EAO

MANILA/PORT MORESBY: 17 December 2013 --  The news is already widespread in the social media scene. The Rector Major with his Council has appointed two new Superiors in the EAO Region amidst a flurry of new Provincial appointments taking place in the final session of the current General Council which is itself likely to undergo significant restructuring in the forthcoming GC27.

The two new EAO appointments are Fr Anthony Paul Bicomong, who will replace Fr Eli Cruz as Provincial of the Philippines North Province (FIN), and Fr Peter (Pedro) Baquero, who will replace Fr Rafael Galve as the Delegate for Papua New Guinea-Solomon Islands, a delegation that exists under FIN.

FR ANTHONY PAUL BICOMONG
Fr Anthony Paul Bicomong, 50 years of age, is from Metro Manila (Quezon City) and has spent all his years in the Province. He made his first profession in 1983 and was ordained at Parañaque in 1992. His early post-ordination years were spent in the formation community at Canlubang, where he was appointed as economer in 1996, a role he held until 2002, when he was appointed Rector at Quezon City. He was brought to Makati a year later to be Economer at Don Bosco Technical Institute where he has also been Vice Rector and is now the Rector. He has been a member of the Provincial Administration Team since 2011.

FR PETER (PEDRO Jr) BAQUERO
Fr Peter (Pedro Junior) Baquero, not to be confused with a well-known Spanish soccer player (!) is 43 years of age. Also Manila-born, Fr Peter made his first profession at Bacolod, Granada in 1990 and was ordained priest at Parañaque in 1999. After his postnovitiate he went to Papua New Guinea where he was at Badili, Gabutu for a year and then 'out in the sticks' at Araimiri for a year before returning to the Philippines for further studies.

After the turn of the millennium he was back in PNG once more, at Araimiri and Lariau, holding down roles such as Parish Priest and Rector, Principal (Araimiri) and Economer. In 2011 he moved to Badili, Gabutu, where he had started out, and has been there since, most recently as Rector. He has been on the Delegation Council since 2011.
