AUSTRALASIAN SALESIAN BROTHERS CONGRESS

MELBOURNE: Jan 31st --Don Bosco’s Vision of the Brother: Opportunities and Challenges for the Year 2000 and Beyond is the theme of the East Asian/Australian Salesian Brothers Congress to be held at St. Mary’s College, University of Melbourne, February 15 – 19, 1999.

It will be a unique Salesian gathering with more than 60 participants expected from Japan, China, India, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Samoa, and Australia.

Keynote speaker is Br John Rasor, a Salesian from California. He will open discussion on a Salesian lay consecrated spirituality; prayer; community; and the Salesian lay consecrated ministry.

Nobel Peace Prizewinner, Bishop Carlos Belo of East Timor, will open the Congress.

Archbishop George Pell will be the Principal Concelebrant of the Eucharist on Tuesday February 16 and Bishop Hilton Deakin will be the Principal Concelebrant for the final Eucharist on Friday February 19
