FILIPINO SALESIAN BISHOP'S NEW POSTING

MANILA 22nd Jan 1998: Bishop Precioso Cantillas, the second Salesian to

be made Bishop, presently Auxiliary at Cebu, has been assigned to the

diocese of MAASIN, on Southern Leyte Island. He will be installed on

March 10 by Cardinal Ricardo Vidal of Cebu, and Papal Nuncio Gian

Vincenzo Moreni. Bishop Cantillas was consecrated two years ago and

assigned to San Nicolas Parish where the first Spanish missionaries

landed in 1521.

This year Bishop Cantillas celebrates the 25th anniversary of his

Salesian profession.
