DATES FOR ELECTION OF THE RECTOR MAJOR AND GENERAL COUNCIL

After a spirited debate on the pros and cons of carrying out these elections pre- or post-Easter, the original proposal carried the day: elections will be from 2-8 April.  One can imagine various reasons being adduced for a change to this...time for the new Rector Major to work solidly with the Chapter, time for Commission #6 to sort out its proposals for the structure of the General Council, and so on.

VIEWS FROM ANOTHER COMMISSION

Yesterday we heard how Commission #6 on structures is going about its business.  Commission #2 is on evangelical witness.  This commission has broken into two (langauge) groups, one of which is effectively workin on the community in the light of the evangelical councils, the other on the community in the light of the spiritual experience we share.

With just two weeks to come up with solid direction for the general assembly, the heat is on.  The commission needs a plan to help it move forward (one proposed and adopted by its chairman, Fr. Chavez).  It needs to take into account contributions from the provincial chapters, and other important sources (e.g. the letters of the RM).  And then it needs to confront the direct issues e.g. what hinders us in ocmmunityfrom living out the evangelical counsels?

Early days yet, so little solid material at this point and much hard work by members of commissions.

The weekend offers some respite - trips to Naples, Pompei or eslewhere.

The Chapter caught up with the laid-up Fr, Luc by means of a video address - by all accounts he is not looking too bad, is in good spirits and is hopeful of an early return to the Pisana.
