NEWS FROM SANTA TECLA-SAN SALVADOR

Julian Fox

SAN SALVADOR: 16th Dec -- 'austraLasia' has been seeking news of the SDB and FMA circumstances in the Central American Province and particularly El Salvador.  The FMS Provincial, through the Sisters' News Service offers the following information:
There have been no victims in any of the Salesian SDB of FMA houses in the Province. However many of the buildings have been damaged, some badly.  The Sisters' College at Santa Tecla (Santa Ines) lost its chapel completely and part of the Sisters quarters.  But of course both the communities in that town (SDB and FMA) are grived by the loss of life of people associated with them who were living at Las Colinas, nearby.
Damage to the SDB Houses seems reparable.  However the Parish Church of Mary Help of Christians in San Salvador itself, has collpased.
That's about it for the moment - no doubt at the world level both SDBs and FMAs are mounting a solidarity effort to assist those struck by this tragedy.
