A three-in-one day at Don Bosco Phnom Penh

PHNOM PENH: 17th December 2006 -- Saturday 16th December took out the trifecta for Salesian Family, Don Bosco Technical School community in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  And the key word was 'Family'.  The opening event was a morning celebration, a blessing of the 'Mamma Margaret Home', a boarding hostel for girls, together with the new water tower for their use, funded by the people of the Federal Republic of Germany. Mr. T. Kibess, representing the German Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, was the guest of honour.
In the afternoon there was the solemn celebration of the 150th anniversary of Mamma Margaret's death. This involved a dramatised reading of her life with a mixture of Khmer songs and dances.  Leaflets on her life were distributed to staff, teachers and students.
Finally came the opening of the 'Mamma Margaret Family Year' with the proclamation of the Birthday of the Association of Salesian Cooperators.  This was welcomed with joy and acclamation.

GLOSSARY
Trifecta: a term used in betting on horses where you have to pick the first three winners in correct sequence! I am using it rather loosely here just to mean 'three'.
