Reliving the spirit of WYD '08 - ESL connections

PHNOM PENH: 22nd September 2009 --
Reliving the spirit of WYD Sydney 2008, Don Bosco Cambodia and Templestowe College Melbourne organized the “ESL Connections”, the use of English Language for conversing and relating to peoples. The course was made easy by nine  College students and three staff of Templestowe Community College, Melbourne  on 14-17 September. The group target was fifty students-scholars of the Don Bosco Children Fund who study High School curriculum in government schools and special English lessons in private language centers in Phnom Penh. Coordinating the groups were ten staff of the Don Bosco Children Fund, Phnom Penh.
In another major youth activity, young gathered from 7-11 September 2009 at the Don Bosco Campus in Phnom Penh for the Youth Synod of the Diocese of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. More than 300 youth participated in this synod which was animated and facilitated by the Children and Youth Office (CYO)  of the Diocese under the theme “God calls, youth responds”. The office will be headed by Fr. Leo Ochoa, SDB with two youth staff and one Jesus Youth International volunteer for the coming school year starting October.
And coming soon - “Besucco Boys Group” is organizing a Summer Vocational Camp, under the slogan “Know Don Bosco Vocation, the Besucco Way” at the Don Bosco Center, Kep Province, September 20-26. These are days of vibrant youthful enthusiasm as 41 boys animated by two Salesians  are reflecting on the slogan to celebrate in their own way the 150th  foundation anniversary of the Congregation. “They are the buds of the growing tree in Cambodia” says Fr. Leo Ochoa, Camp 2009 animator on opening day. Young and energetic Brother Martin Tan Tai and 4 SYM leaders facilitate the liturgy, outdoor scout activities and all group experiences.
