THAILAND: FR. JOSEPH PRATHAN NEW PROVINCIAL
ROME: 24th December '03 -- The Rector Major and his council in a recent sitting have appointed Fr. Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil as Provincial of Thailand Province (which also includes the Cambodia mission) for the six year period 2003-2009.
'Fr. Lec' as he is nicknamed for all in the Province, will be installed as Provincial in Bangkok on 13th February 2004. This is his second mandate as provincial in the province, having been appointed from 1992-97. In the past year he was appointed as the Regional Coordinator of formation for the East Asia-Oceania Region.
Fr. Lec has held many positions of responsibility in his province - latterly as the Rector of the formation hosue at Sampran. He has also become a great devotee of 'Lectio Divina' not only within the province, but in the Thai Church, throughout the various dioceses and amongst the Salesian Family.
'austraLasia' wishes him well as he prepres to take up the renewed challenge of province leadership.
