KOREA AND JAPAN PROVINCES COMBINE FOR YOUNG PRIESTS' SEMINAR

TOKYO, Chofu: 26th December -- For the second time in two years, the two provinces of Korea and Japan are combining for a five day session for priests in their quinquennium, this time at Chofu in Japan (last year at Seoul).  The gathering will include both formation and social aspects and will be held at the Formation house in Chofu.  The vice provincial of Japan, Fr. Matsuo, is in charge of the event, while a key resource person will be Fr. Henry Bonetti, vice provincial of the Korea province.  He will be leading the 15 member Korean delegation of young priests in attendance.  The common language will in fact be English, since for a number of years now almost all of the participants have learnt English, having attended the Paranaque Seminaryo ng Don Bosco, Manila.  Both provinces, over the past seven years, have sent their students to Manila for at least a 12 month English course.
Korea once was a Delegation under the Japan province - until 1972.  After that time there was very little contact in terms of formation or pastoral exchange.  The quinquennium course promises a new and fruitful stage in interprovincial relations, mutual sharing and assistance.
