Don Bosco Middle School, another dream come true

LAHORE: 23 August 2010 -- From Lahore, Fr Miguel follows up with a reminder of good things happening (see his comment below) and the fact that a relief operation has been designed to bring needed goods to the south of the country where families of many of their 170 boarders have lost everything. But first let him comment on the dream come true:
"August 16 was a special day for the Don Bosco Technical Centre in Lahore. It saw the Blessing and Inauguration of a new School on its premises, the Don Bosco Middle School. This school has been in the minds and hearts of the Salesians in Pakistan ever since Fr. Hans Dopheide, from the Australian Province, the pioneer and founder of the Centre, dreamed of a Feeder School of poor boys for the technical training to be taken upon Graduation. It was Fr. Hans’ Master Plan for Lahore and it was designed exactly five years ago. Unfortunately Fr. Hans’ health did not allow him to be present on such occasion but he was well represented in the person of Br. Michael Lynch, another good friend of our Centre and Missions Office in charge in Australia, and well remembered by all those present. Together with Br. Michael we receive some local businessmen who have supported the Centre throughout these years, an important Delegation from the Spanish Embassy, some Reporters and, of course, youths… more than 200 youths that make up the backbone of the new educational platform that is Don Bosco in Lahore. Now young 'drop outs' can complete their basic education at Don Bosco and this way earn the right to get their 'Technical Training Government' recognised.
It has been a week of hard work in Lahore but all is organized and running… Let the action continue!! Don Bosco Lahore is back to work, as in the 2005 Earthquake! We need to show our full commitment to the Pakistani people in need".
