FIN celebrates Formation

MAKATI: 6th July 2009 -- The Salesian Family of the Philippine North Province (FIN) marked its Formation Day last July 4, 2009 at DBTI Makati. It began with a Solemn Mass presided by Fr. Bobby Mac Roxas, SDB, the Provincial Delegate for the SF, together with some 20 SDB concelebrating priests.
Rev. Fr. Remo Bati, SDB, the oldest Filipino Salesian Priest, delivered the homily encouraging all the members of the Salesian Family to be faithful to their own Salesian Vocation as the congregation marks its 150 years of existence.
An engaging talk was given by Rev. Fr. Jun Bicomong, SDB, the Provincial Economer and a Church History professor of Don Bosco Center of Studies. His topic revolved on his book “The Beginnings of the Salesian Work in the Philippines.”
On a personal note, he shared with the assembly that “the numerous requests for the Salesians to come and work in the Philippines” delighted him. However, the earlier arrivals of some Salesians were not yet the opportune time to plant the seed of Don Bosco’s work in our Philippine Islands.
This affair enriched the members of the Salesian Family in FIN to take part in the celebration of the 150 years of the founding of the congregation.
