HK: Don Bosco goes to school

HONG KONG: 1 April 2011 -- 'Don Bosco' in reliquary form, has begun his visit to the schools. The HK Salesian Family schools' 'uniform groups', teachers and students have long been in readiness for the arrival of the Relic. They used the last minutes to rehearse, practise their slogans and welcoming gestures. Solemly, Don Bosco passed through the crowds with students standing neatly and excitedly on both sides, as the final days of March came.
During the arrival, students were waving fans designed specifically for the occasion. A loud shouts of “Viva Don Bosco” were intended to reach back 100 years, to a dream fulfilled when, or so we like to imagine, he saw the faces and heard the music and songs from his beloved young people in Hong Kong.
Fr Simon Lam, Provincial of China Province remarked, “Although Don Bosco cannot visit China in person, he finally comes through his relic – his right hand as a sign of presence. Don Bosco has two wishes. He wants us to look up, to know and follow Jesus Christ’s gospel and teaching. The second is to look forward to seek improvement.”
Fr Simon reminded the teachers, “Whoever welcomes one such little child in my name welcomes me (Mt 18:5). You are not only welcoming, you are teaching the children to be good spiritually and strong physically according to the Preventive System. I would like to thank you for all your effort in teaching the children. Please keep up your good work even when it is not easy.”
Student representatives presented their prayers, wishes and promises to Don Bosco through various creative and meaningful ways, such as decorative paintings, beautiful flowers, folded paper hearts.
