(Small correction on #1950 - Fr Paul Vu Van Trung is the second, not the first Salesian to be ordained in Mongolia - the first was Fr Andrew Nguyen Trung Tin in 2002. Paul was the first priestly ordination by the local Ordinary, Bishop Padilla).

101 good reasons to look at the 'Regions' collection

ROME: 2nd October 2007 -- Just in case you have not been keeping an eye on the incredible amount of work being completed, daily, by Sr John Bosco, a Nigerian Holy Family Sister with a great love (obviously) for Don Bosco, you might wish to take another look at the SDL collections and, in particular, 'Regions'.  But not only.
As of today, 101 EAO regional documents, almost all of them in English, are available for quick browsing and download should you wish, in their original file format (most as .doc).  The documents are as they are - in other words, the effort has been made to make them available through this system (either by choosing the SDL search option in www.sdb.org or by directly entering sdl.sdb.org in your browser) but not to rewrite them.  So if a document is not in good English, or has some other blemish, it is because that is the way the document was. A Digital Library represents the reality and does not change it!
In the reserved (sdb) collection you will find two other documents of interest to a number of readers - the Rector's Manual (in English) and the Provincial's Manual (in Italian - it was never translated into English).  To enter the reserved area, you will find the username and password once you enter the sdb.org reserved area.  I prefer not to repeat that information here.
The Rector's Manual was very well scanned and converted into .doc format in the Philippines and a special thanks foes to Fr Gustilo and his 'team' for doing that.  The Provincial's Manual was converted to a paged image scan at the UPS.  It is less convenient in this form but at least the entire manual is available to anyone who cares to read it online or download it (probably the latter).
In the meantime more than 4,000 of the Ven. Cimatti's letters are now available (2,000 to go) and additional material on him and by him is being added - his other writings, images, music.
If you are a reader in languages other than English, you may well find documents available to you through this source.  We currently have just a single Thai document, though others have been promised.  They will be posted as soon as they arrive.  And do not be concerned if your browser just shows hieroglyphics for certain lines when you open SDL - it will mean that you have not enabled Asian, or Cyrillic languages. Those who have such enabled will see those references in Japanese, Korean or Russian or whatever language is the case.
